Book

3. The Poet Slave of Cuba, by Margarita Engle.

The ALA has announced the major children's book awards. And this one won the Belpre award (for the book published in 2007 that made the biggest contribution to latino literature for kids). It was meh, but might be a nice addition to a teacher's repertoire of lit.
